Green Gemstone

Can sapphires be blue-green?
Are there any green-blue gemstones?
Sapphires are the blue variety of corundum. If they are red, they’re called rubies. Basically, it’s aluminum oxide, Al2O3.
All the colors of the spectrum are possible, from red to yellow, green, blue, and violet. In addition, the stones may be pink, gray, black, or colorless and all the shades inbetween.
Australian sapphires often are dark blue, with a distinct blue-green pleochromism, which is mostly seen from the side.
You probably have indicolite tourmaline. Nice gem, but it’s got a hardness of 7 rather than the 9 of a sapphire.
