About Imitation enamel lapel pins
Imitation enamel lapel pins called synthetic enamel lapel pins, eploa, semi-cloisonné lapel pins . The lapel pin process is similar to hard enamel lapel pins except that special enamel is utilized to provide enamel colors instead of the cloisonné. Imitation enamel colors can be matched to Pantone Colors (PMS) in imitation enamel pins.
Imitation enamel was invented in 80′s. It appears that has brought a revolution for the lapel pin history. The synthetic pigment gives the gorgeous appearance that similar to Cloisonné hard enamel. The advantages of imitation enamels are shinier and they are able to match “pantone color chart”. A traditional cloisonné product has 120 colors to choose from, so the imitation hard enamel is often the better choice for your product.
The Pantone Matching System (PMS) is the industry standard color chart. The PMS color chart is a registered trademark of Pantone Inc.
IT gives lapel pins more room in colors. Unlike Hard enamel, imitation enamel is liquid form and can be mixed.
Like cloisonné pins, a die mold is also used to stamp out metal pieces and shape lapel pins. Zinc alloy use die cast to form the shape.
These pins offer brilliant color and fine, raised-metal detailing. The recessed areas of your custom designed pin are hand enameled and then kiln fired. Each pin is hand polished and then plated.
Today, most of lapel pin are made by imitation enamel because of similarity to hard-fired enamel look, lower cost, faster delivery time and a wider variety of color choices. It becomes the trend of making lapel pins.
